Editorial Process, Peer Review, and Production

All manuscripts submitted to C3S Publishers journals undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure academic integrity, originality, and scientific quality.

Most journals operate under a single-blind peer-review model, where reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, but authors do not know the reviewers' identities. Some journals may adopt a double-blind review process depending on journal policy.

Upon submission, the manuscript is screened by the editorial office to ensure compliance with journal guidelines and ethical standards. An Assistant Editor coordinates the peer-review process by inviting qualified reviewers with relevant expertise.

Each manuscript is typically evaluated by at least two independent reviewers. If review reports substantially differ, additional reviewers may be invited. Reviewers are expected to hold appropriate academic qualifications and possess recent publications relevant to the manuscript's subject area. Conflicts of interest are strictly avoided.

Based on reviewers' comments and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief, Guest Editor, or an appointed Editorial Board Member makes the final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection. Authors may be invited to revise their manuscripts, and generally no more than two rounds of major revisions are permitted.

After acceptance, manuscripts enter the production stage, which includes professional copyediting, language editing, typesetting, proofreading, and final author approval. Articles are published online immediately upon completion of production and are organized into regular journal issues and annual volumes.

Ethical Standards and Editorial Integrity

Academic Editors (Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board Members, and Guest Editors) play a critical role in ensuring fairness, rigor, and integrity. To safeguard confidentiality and protect unpublished research, Academic Editors must not upload manuscripts, figures, tables, or any related unpublished material to generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools or external platforms during the editorial or decision-making process.
